Can You Imagine…?
Can you imagine if Adam Gase and Vic Fangio were in San Francisco instead of Chicago? Believe it or not, there was a possibility that could have happened.
After the 49ers fired Jim Harbaugh, who would have been a likely candidate for the head coaching spot? Most people would think that if they wanted to stay within the organization that Vic Fangio was next in line. San Francisco did stay within the organization, but they did not hire Fangio. Instead, they hired their defensive line coach Jim Tomsula.
The San Francisco front office also considered Adam Gase to take the head coaching position. What kept that from developing? Adam Gase knew from the beginning that he wanted Vic Fangio as his defensive coordinator if he were to take the job. The 49ers said that Jim Tomsula was going to be the defensive coordinator for the team. That was what kept Adam Gase from taking the head coaching job in San Francisco, and we all know what happened from there.
We all thought that Thanksgiving was over, but I’m going to give one last Thanks and put that holiday to rest for the year.
Thank you Adam Gase and Vic Fangio for choosing Chicago!
“One Game At a Time”
John Fox told Josh Liss of WBBM Newsradio in Chicago,
What’s gotten us where we are is to focus on one game at a time, and the guys have responded well to that, so really right now all our focus and preparation starts today on the San Francisco 49ers.
As fans, we should do the same. Yes there’s plenty of reason for excitement looking at the remaining schedule, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
With a 3-8 record, Jim Tomsula is fighting for his job. A majority of the San Francisco fan base wants him fired as soon as possible. You better believe that the head coach is going to have no problem doing anything in his power to win this game, and win back the fans. He needs a win to keep his head above water, if there’s any chance left.
San Francisco is in a very similar situation that the Bears are in. The San Francisco roster has 39 guys on the roster that have four or less years of experience. I thought the Bears were a young team, wow. The Bears have 29 guys on the roster with four or less years of experience.
Not only is the coach fighting to keep his spot, but there looks to be a lot of turnover on this roster in the off-season. One of those notable players will be their quarterback Blaine Gabbert.
In three games this year, Gabbert has thrown an average of 255.67 yards, he has four touchdown passes and three interceptions. We saw against Green Bay how much more confident our defense is getting. Let’s see them tear apart this under-experienced quarterback on Sunday!
Remember Bears fans: One game at a time.
The Bears are fighting for a playoff spot. Right now, the Wild Card is going to be the team’s best bet. This Bears team is in control of their own destiny. They can’t overlook these games against teams under .500. Remember, San Francisco has their own internal problems they are fighting for so don’t overlook this matchup.
Game Predictions
It’s not that I’m feeling completely confident about this game, but the Bears have won three of their last four and only lost to Denver by two. Plus knowing that Adam and Vic had the chance to both be in San Francisco, I’m sure both coaches would feel a lot better about sticking it to these guys.
In their loss to Arizona last week, the 49ers only allowed 19 points. They did not run the ball very well, as a team they only ran for 67 yards on 17 attempts. On defense they only got one sack, credit to Mike Purcell. I don’t think their young defensive line is going to be good enough to get anymore than one sack on Jay during the game, and I have a hunch that Jay will have a really solid game.
I haven’t seen anything that rules out Eddie Royal, Alshon Jeffery, or Matt Forte this week against San Francisco. Maybe we get to see our top receiving corp start once again. It certainly feels like a while since we’ve seen all three play together.
My Prediction: The Chicago Bears are victorious by a 24-13 final.
