Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins found himself behind bars Saturday, facing charges of domestic violence and battery in what the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida describes as a serious incident.
Details of the Arrest
The 21-year-old remained locked up Saturday evening, with booking records showing charges described as \”touch or strike/battery/domestic violence.\” ESPN reports that Judkins is scheduled to appear before a judge Sunday morning for his initial court hearing.
The Browns organization issued a brief statement acknowledging they are \”aware and gathering more information\” about the situation, according to a team source. The Broward Sheriff’s Office had not yet responded to requests for comment from The Athletic.
Repeated Concerns for Browns’ Draft Picks
This troubling development represents the second consecutive year that a Cleveland Browns second-round draft pick has been arrested on domestic violence charges before the season begins. Last August, Mike Hall Jr. faced similar allegations and eventually entered a no-contest plea.
Judkins’ Background and Potential Role with the Browns
Judkins arrives in Cleveland fresh off a standout season at Ohio State, where he helped lead the Buckeyes to a national championship and was expected to compete for the starting running back position this fall. Selected with the No. 36 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, he has yet to officially sign his rookie contract.
His final college season saw him rush for 1,060 yards — marking his third consecutive 1,000-yard campaign — while adding 22 catches for 161 yards through the air. Before transferring to Ohio State, Judkins spent two productive seasons at Ole Miss, where he accumulated 2,725 rushing yards and found the end zone 31 times, averaging 104 yards per game.
