Chicago Bears lose again, what’s new?

Image credit: John J. Kim (Chicago Tribune)

In the Bears 31-3 loss at Lincoln Financial Field, the Eagles took a team photo, former Bear Alshon Jeffery went bowling and the secondary had a choreographed presentation of the Electric Slide.
These all happened after two scoring drives and an interception.
The Bears didn’t perform the Electric Slide but they did some sliding of their own – further into the dark pit with the bottom dwellers of the league (Browns and 49ers).
Sunday’s loss to the Eagles shouldn’t have been any surprise to Bears fans. What is arguably the hottest team in the NFL, with the No.1 rushing defense, the highest scoring offense and an MVP caliber quarterback was supposed to demolish the Bears.
And they did.
But any fans who thought the Bears had a chance of defeating the Eagles, let only covering the 14-point spread, are as clueless as John Fox is coaching.
Going into the matchup against the Eagles it was evident the Bears had many problems on the team, but the running game with the No. 3 leading rusher in the league, Jordan Howard, wasn’t one of them. However, after the Bears only managed six yards rushing the entire game, Jay-Z has less problems than the Bears do.
Even when the Bears made “good plays” they turned into positives for the Eagles.
In the fourth quarter with the Eagles leading 24-3, the offense was cruising. Carson Wentz handed the ball off to his running back, Jay Ajayi, and he went right for a 30-yard gain, but Cre’Von LeBlanc hustled downfield to force a fumble.
Great individual effort by LeBlanc, but the ball rolled into the end zone and was recovered by Eagles’ receiver Nelson Agholor for a touchdown.
That score put the Eagles over the 30-point mark for the seventh time this season. The Bears haven’t scored 30 once.
By now, everyone who follows the Bears should know they are a bad football team.
The offense is horrible, maybe the worst in the league. The defense without Leonard Floyd and Danny Trevathan isn’t the same unit that fans, including myself, were raving about earlier this season. And special teams are still #BearsSpecialTeams – missing field goals, committing bad penalties and failing to create any spark at punt or kickoff return.
With everything the Bears are bad at, I’m sure a majority of fans can agree that it’s becoming difficult to watch Bears games. Sunday is just another day of the week and has long since been a day to look forward to for fans.
Those fans will also have to do some waiting before their team is posing for pictures or bowing in the end zone.
Maybe that will happen next year or the year after that.
