San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir found himself in handcuffs Thursday evening in Los Angeles after being arrested on an obstruction of justice charge, local law enforcement confirmed.

What Happened During the Arrest

The 25-year-old defender, who grew up in Los Angeles before making his mark in the NFL, walked free from jail Friday morning. He’s scheduled to face a judge sometime next month, court documents show.

According to Los Angeles Police Department sources, officers approached a group that included Lenoir and spotted a firearm inside a parked vehicle. When police asked for the car keys, someone in the group handed them off to Lenoir, who then quickly passed them to another person trying to hide them from officers, reports suggest.

49ers Respond to Latest Incident

The San Francisco organization kept their response measured: \”We are aware of the matter involving Deommodore Lenoir and are in the process of gathering further information.\”

This arrest comes just months after Lenoir locked in a lucrative five-year, $92 million contract extension with San Francisco last November. The former fifth-round pick from the 2021 draft has put together solid numbers during his time with the team—six interceptions, 26 passes defended, and 265 tackles across four seasons in the red and gold.
