"Welcome Back Bears Fans!"
I'm Will DeWitt and I am the host and founder of The Chicago Audible, and you've probably heard me kickoff our podcasts with four of my favorite words.
I founded The Chicago Audible as an undergraduate student back in 2015.
Attending Indiana University, I had my own blog covering the Chicago Bears for a campus radio station (WIUX), and during my internship with the IU Basketball Podcast The Assembly Call, I was challenged to begin a podcast of my own.
And thus, The Chicago Audible was born! (Although longtime fans of the show know it used to be called by a different name before the NFL made us rebrand in 2018).
My all-time favorite Bears player?
Oh, that's easy – Walter Payton.
I'm young enough where I never got to watch Sweetness play live, or in person. And I know it's cliche' ... but it's true. I admire Payton both on and off the field. He was a tremendous player and an amazing human being.
My favorite Chicago Bears memory?
This one more of a personal memory, but it comes from the second Bears game I ever attended. It was during the Super Bowl run in 2006. I was at the Bears-Rams game on Monday Night in St. Louis.
Devin Hester (the rookie phenom at the time) ran back not one, but two electrifying kick returns and had the Edwards Jones Dome chanting: "Let's Go Bears!"
I still get goosebumps thinking of that. What a special game, player ... and season!
I'm proud of this podcast.
When I first started the show, I had no intentions of it lasting more than a season, let alone span over 550 episodes with over 4.5 million downloads.
It's a blast starting this venture with one of my best friends growing up, and making a new best friend along the way in my co-host, Nicholas Moreano.
I've been honored to make so many connections with fellow Bears Fans around the country and world. Whether it's connecting online, or running into a listener in person, it's always a surreal moment getting to meet those who enjoy our show.
If you haven't listened to our show yet, I hope you give it a try!
